NBA 2010 Playoffs Predictions: ORL-ATL Game 2

6.May.2010

(2) Orlando vs. (3) Atlanta, ORL leads 1-0

Game 1                        114-71

I said Game 1 would be a tough game for both squads, and it was, at least for the duration of the first quarter. Then, all of a sudden, the Hawks stopped competing on both ends of the court, losing the second and third quarters to Orlando by big margins, 10-28, 11-32, respectively.

How a team coming off a blowout Game 7 victory suddenly goes on a horrific slump like that is nothing short of bizarre.

When your team’s top scorer finishes the game with a meager 10 points, your second best scorer with 14, and your first guy off the bench (who also happens to be the NBA’s Sixth Man of ‘10) shoots 1-11 for a measly 5 points—that just won’t cut it. And when that happens as the opposing team shoots 52% from the field and 39% from three point country, then you’d really lose the game by as much as 43 big points. And to think this is the playoffs.

Prediction: It’s hard to see the Hawks bouncing back from that demoralizing defeat. Expect to see the Magic win Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead.
