Introducing: ‘The Pinoy Thread’

I am a Filipino.

Like most—if not all—of my countrymen (wherever they may be on earth), I have a certain fondness for community. Which explains why ever since I signed up for WordPress, I had always wanted to find, get to know, and connect with other Filipino bloggers here.

The idea then, was to build and maintain connections with other Pinoys on WordPress as much as I could. But I didn’t know how or where to look (dim-witted noob I was)—and in retrospect, maybe I didn’t try hard enough.

I am a Filipino.

I’ve been a member of WordPress since November 2009, but it was only last week that I encountered my first fellow Filipino blogger—excluding the three Filipino bloggers I know personally (two are inactive, one deactivated her account).

But by the grace of God, this blessing arrived.

Thanks to the concept of blogging buddies, I’ve found my kababayans here on WordPress.

Thanks to the concept of blogging buddies, Thread of Truth has experienced a huge boost in views, comments, and likes ever since that fateful day I posted a comment on The Daily Post.

I am a Filipino.

This is my attempt to reach out to as many Filipino bloggers on WordPress as possible.

This is my way of paying it forward.

    • 22.January.2011 1:17 am

      Hi, Jec! 🙂

Nov 2009 ka nag-start mag-blog? Aliw! Pareho tayo.

Whoa! Di ko pa yan napupuntahan. Nakanaks! Top 2 siya o! Ayee. 😛

Congrats, kahit mejo late na. 😀

      • 22.January.2011 5:41 am

Sadly, you can only be part of that list if you have enlisted your blog as a Filipino blog.

    • 22.January.2011 12:01 pm

Well, first off Neutral, I’d have to ask you to clarify. What do you mean when you said ‘enlisted your blog as a Filipino blog’? Are you referring to the blog’s language?

To clarify, I wasn’t referring to what language you registered your blog under, or whether or not you enlisted your blog as a Filipino blog (maybe they’re one and the same), but rather your nationality/ethnicity/heritage as a blogger.

So, the only criterion (besides you being known to me, of course) is that you must absolutely be a Filipino blogger. It doesn’t matter to me whether you write in Filipino, English, Spanish, Japanese, or whatever. But you most certainly have to have some Pinoy blood coursing through your veins for you to be eligible to be on the Pinoy Thread.

I hope that clarifies it. Because there really isn’t anything to be sad about. 🙂

      • 22.January.2011 12:03 pm

Oops. I was referring to the Top Post according to language, not nationality.

      • 22.January.2011 12:07 pm

Oh. Yep, you’re absolutely right about that. The list Jec refers to is for Filipino language blogs only.

Whew! At least you (albeit inadvertently) pointed out to my attention one characteristic of the Pinoy Thread that could be misunderstood.

        Sorry, Neutral. Funny misunderstanding. Haha.

      • 22.January.2011 12:11 pm

        I’m getting nosebleed.

      • 22.January.2011 12:19 pm

Hehe. I am deeply sorry for that.

    • 22.January.2011 7:47 pm

3rd ka Jec! Galing mo! :))

      • 22.January.2011 10:17 pm

Whoa. Kanina lang 2nd si Jec. May nag-overtake sa kanya!

      • 22.January.2011 10:20 pm

Woah. Luto! Haha. Joke. Pero 3rd isn’t that bad, anyway. Congrats, still. Hahahaha.

      • 23.January.2011 1:37 am

        nyak! x|
Kalokohan lamang. haha!

      • 23.January.2011 4:41 am

@Fradge: Salamat nga pala sa pag-like. 😀 Onga! Luto! Tignan mo ulit. 4th na si Jec (nitong huling check ko). Pero tama, okay pa naman yan (Pang-ilang spot nga ulit yung breaking point naten? XD).

@Jec: Wushu (Martial arts? Joke.)! Pa-humble pa to! Tumigil ka nga jan. Go ahead, bask in the awesomeness of getting to Top 2, and now being in the number 4 spot, which ain’t that bad, considering. 🙂

  2. 22.January.2011 3:07 pm

P.S. Congrats Jec! Ngayon ko lang nalamang may ganyan.. HAHA.. I’m totally lost :))

    • 23.January.2011 7:54 pm

Grabe, ano korhz? It takes a while to find kindred here on WP, I guess. Good thing there are lots of curious bloggers out there that like to roam the WordPress community. You get to this blogger, you click this link, one thing leads to another, and poof! 🙂

  4. 23.January.2011 7:01 pm

This is intriguing. I don’t really blog about anything Philippine-centric per say, but I’m as Filipino as the day is bright.

    • 23.January.2011 7:59 pm

Hi, Sebastian! Thanks for viewing and commenting. Why do you find the Pinoy Thread intriguing?

Anyway, whatever the content on your blog, whatever language you blog in, if you’re Filipino and I meet you here on WordPress, you’re most likely going into the Pinoy Thread. 😀

      • 24.January.2011 1:42 am

I like the idea of a filipino community on wordpress.

I usually blog about the rare plants and animals in Hawai’i. But I have been thinking about making a post about my favorite comfort food: sinigang.

      • 24.January.2011 12:37 pm

I see. Yep, I like that too, and maybe the Pinoy Thread is a going in that direction, although right now I’m thinking: I’m going to be overwhelmed eventually, what with the sheer number of Filipinos here on WordPress! 😀

You’ve got a very interesting blog. All that nature facts and trivia all in one place! Cool!

Sinigang is my favorite comfort food, too! You really should make that post about Sinigang. Then I’ll read it, comment on it, and like it!

  5. 23.January.2011 10:33 pm

Whoa, I’m in the list! Awesome!

I’d like to say I speak fluent tagalog, but, why is it I can’t understand written tagalog? It’s such a mystery to me.

    • 23.January.2011 11:18 pm

Hi, dear! I added you to the list just tonight, actually. 😀

Hmmm. That is a mystery. My guess is that speaking and reading are assigned to two rather unrelated brain functions, which is why there are people who can speak a language fluently but can’t read/understand it when it’s written down. Again, that’s just my take.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting! 🙂

      • 24.January.2011 12:41 pm

What is your most favorite ingredient of sinigang?

      • 24.January.2011 12:50 pm

Above all else, I like that Sinigang tastes sour. As for my favorite ingredient in it, it’d have to be kangkong (water spinach). You?

      • 24.January.2011 12:57 pm

Oh. I love okra and radish. In essence, I love anything that is part of sinigang. Oh.

  6. 24.January.2011 9:48 pm

We put spinach instead of kangkong. There’s no kangkong in winter.

    • 25.January.2011 11:23 am

I like spinach too. But I’m with Jedo, as long as the broth is sour, I’m good!

    • 25.January.2011 2:40 pm

@renxkyoko: I see. That would be kind of sad for me since kangkong is my favorite sahog of sinigang. But, just like Sebastian said, as long as the sabaw is sour, it’s all good! 🙂

@Sebastian: You got that right! 😀

  7. 25.January.2011 3:03 pm

You’re no longer visiting me. I’m sad.

    • 25.January.2011 5:04 pm

Don’t be sad. I’m still visiting, just not commenting. Your recent posts have been poems. And I’m not really a fan of poetry in general. 🙂

      • 25.January.2011 6:14 pm

No they are not just poetry. I have recent posts that are not poems. 😦

      • 25.January.2011 6:23 pm

I will no longer write poems. I swear!

      • 25.January.2011 7:24 pm

Of course not all your recent posts are poems, but the most recent ones are. Wait, don’t stop writing poems. A lot of your readers think you’re good at it, why disappoint them by stopping?

Don’t worry, I regularly visit your blog, just as you regularly visit here. When I feel like commenting, even on a poem, you’ll definitely hear from me. 😀

  8. 25.January.2011 7:48 pm

Don’t worry the next post is absolutely not a poem.

Thanks a lot for being there. 🙂

  9. 2.February.2011 2:19 am

thanks for featuring my blog here. but mind if i ask, are you mental climax?

    • 2.February.2011 4:03 am

      Hi! You’re most welcome. 🙂

As to your question, I’m not exactly sure I know what you mean. Please clarify. 😀

      • 2.February.2011 5:51 am

there’s a user named, mental climax, whom i just assume to be you. anyways, it seems that i am wrong.

well i just wonder how you end up in my blog too. 😀
i traced your blog through the ‘referrers’ in the stats page. lol.

      • 2.February.2011 5:57 am

I see. Well, I’m most certainly not mental climax then.

Actually, I don’t remember exactly how I found your blog, but I’m sure I went through some other person’s blog and found you in the comments area. Then I went to your blog to verify if you’re Pinoy or not, and you are, so there, you’re in the Pinoy Thread. 🙂

    • 9.February.2011 4:20 pm

      My pleasure, dear. 🙂

Yep, this is awesome. The idea actually came to me out of nowhere one day, when I got filled to the brim with patriotism all of a sudden that I thought, hey, someone should make a list of all Pinoy bloggers here on WP!

      And, voilà. 😀

  11. 14.March.2011 1:20 am
